Ain’t Technology Grand?

I know I’m a whore for modern technology, but this is just outstanding. I’m currently in Fairfax, VA (USA) on a business trip. I’m typing this on a wireless keyboard that is connected via BlueTooth to my HP iPAQ 4700, which in turn is wirelessly connected to the Internet courtesy of the Marriott Courtyard’s Wi-Fi Hotspot. This blog entry is stored on the Talking Forest server (located in Norway, I think), and automatically inserted into the contents of the TechnicalAuthoring.com website, which is hosted on an entirely different server (maybe somewhere in California), and delivered to you via whatever technology you happen to use (probably a broadband-connected PC, but it could just as easily be a handheld PC, or even your mobile phone). And it all works seamlessly! Incredible.

I flew over here on United Airlines. It was OK, though the plane was a bit old and knackered (much like the stewardesses…). Typically, they forgot my pre-ordered vegetarian meal, which put me in a foul mood for most of the flight. Luckily, I had 4Gig of MP3s on my iPAQ to soothe me through it. (Although as most of it is Mogwai, there wasn’t really that much soothing…) I also forgot to switch off my mobile phone for the entire flight, and guess what – the plane didn’t fall out of the sky! Amazing! I don’t know why I brought it anyway, as it won’t work over here. Maybe it’s time for me to upgrade my phone technology…
